Hello and Welcome Back... For Those Who Are New To This Site  (Bonus Album Of The Week)

 

Each tape tells a story about what was happening in my life as a young boy growing up in Campbelltown, South West of Sydney in Australia in the 80s

This is Tape 7

The year was 1987, I was 17 and for me, 1987 was a interesting time.

I had just left high school and was now working. 

I started my working life at Venture (Kinda like K-Mart) in Campbelltown, NSW, I left after 6 months and started work at a Shell Service Station pumping fuel.. While there, I watched a mechanic on his first day on the job loose his thumb as he was guiding down a hoist. That was not good. Then after a few months i decided to work for the competition, the B.P Servo up the road, doing driveway attendant and helping the Mechanics.

This was the job I loved the most. The owner was into Volkswagen's so I got a inside look at the goings on with various VWs, inc Beetles, Fastbacks and the popular vans.
I also did tyre repairs and I was the only place open on Sundays who did tyre repairs.

One Sunday, i fixed the rear tyre on a guys car and he tested it for me by doing a burnout.. Life was good back then (pic below)

Back to the music...

Because i was now working, I brought my own stereo. It was second hand from a place called 'Oscars Mother' in the Downes Plaza in Campbelltown. It was a 3 in 1 with a CDC brand CD player (Made in Japan) with a headphone jack in the CD player, sounded amazing
