GENESIS - GENESIS (West Germany (Japan) First Issue CD FLAC EX Version)
Hello and Welcome Back.. This Album Formed a Gateway to the 80s in Regards to Sound.
For those that don't know, the song 'Mama' (#1) is what started the
whole 80s 'Gated Reverb' Drum Sound which was found by accident while
messing around with a Linn Drum Machine (LM-1).
Mike Rutherford fed the Drum Machine output through a Reverb (technique that combines strong reverb and a noise gate that cuts the tail of the reverb) and an Amplifier and the rest, as they say, is history. Even today, this effect is still used.
Released in 1983, 'Genesis' was the 12th studio album by U.K band 'Genesis' which seen 5 singles flower from the album, those being 'That's All', 'Home By The Sea', 'Illegal Alien', 'Taking It All Too Hard' & 'Mama'

Kudos to track '#3 'Driving The Last Spike'... Pure magic, tells the story of Irish railway workers laying down rails in diverse conditions, very emotional song.
