Hello and Welcome back... A Wise Man Once Said 'What Goes Up Must Come Down'
And from me, 1992, was just that...
The first part of 1992 started well... I was living in my own flat with my
super hot girlfriend at the time, I finally got rid of my POS (Piece of Shit) Hyundai (car) and
brought a real car..
But, by the end of 1992...
I would be homeless
Living in my car
Single
Have my flat broken into and trashed
Nearly beaten up
My grandfather had a heart attack and later died
But there was a light at the the end of this very dark tunnel and her name was Kathleen (more about her later)
So, the start of 1992 seen me trade in my death trap Hyundai (See 1991 here) and buy a real car.. well, that was the idea. (my mom was horrified)
I ended up buying a 5ltr V8 1985 VK Commodore... The ultimate 'hoon' car
This thing was a beast and was Veeeeery loud. (similar to pic below, just without the fancy wheels)
When getting up at 3am to go to work, i would 'rattle' the neighbors windows while getting beasty started.
I eventually had to roll the car down the hill where there was no houses / units and start up her up there...
It was a fun car to drive, but with one small problem...
This car chewed petrol like nothing else... I was tearing up around $30 a day
in fuel to get to work and back, and when you only get a small pay
packet (rent, food, bills, etc, etc) you really started to notice how
much i was paying out.
It was around this time that i was getting reports from various friends
that my car was seen doing the rounds but with a female driver... around
the time i was asleep it seems
It was also around this time that little things were starting eat away
at me... I was still struggling with pain from my accident, side effects from my medication, jealousy, arguments, ect, ect...Sadly, i was not in a good place mentally and i began to take it out on my girlfriend, i didn't beat her or anything, nothing like that...i was just in pain and not a nice person to be around at times...
Lets face it folks, we were going downhill...
Sadly, we broke up..
And so, started the downward spiral...
One day while i was at work, Jodie came and got her things. she still had her key and let herself in.
It was also the day that my unit was trashed and basically anything of value was stolen.
When i got home i asked my very nosy neighbor if he had heard / seen
anything but no he hadn't... mind you, this bloke could hear a pin drop
a mile away and would be inviting himself and his kids into my unit in 3 sec flat.
It was also around that time that i saw my beloved Roland SH101 Synthesizer sitting on his kitchen table.
'Oh, i saw it when the door was left open so i grabbed it for Safe Keeping'... Hmmmm
A few days later, while i was still in a mess from losing my girlfriend
(i really did love her), i came home from work and found my neighbor
standing near my front door with a baseball bat, his mates was swinging
a chain and his other mate, a large knife..
Sure, i had beaten death twice before in a car accident but this took some friendly banter and jokes on my behalf to calm the situation down...
That was the last straw for me, i grabbed what little possessions i had left and left that place, never to return.
The next few weeks i spent sleeping in my car close to work.
I worked in a factory so if i missed a few showers, i didn't matter...
Thankfully a lovely lady that worked in the office where i worked, could
see i was not going well and offered a place to stay with her son...
The next few months was spent basically working, crying, sleeping, crying, working, crying, etc, etc (you get the picture)
This is where the second part of the Mixtape was made... It was not
uncommon to hear certain songs,(Thanks Bryan Adams / Bruce
Springsteen), me stopped on the side of the road, balling my eyes out,
wondering if i could get any worse.
And a few weeks later, my grandfather who i loved and looked up to,
suffered a heart-attack and passed away.
This was possibly the lowest point in my life.
It gets better, i promise :)
One day after finishing work, i bumped into a girl that i had met a few years earlier in 1990.
She was catching the same bus as i was after my accident (reduced hours
meant a later bus than normal) and we decided to catch up
Her name was Kathleen.
It was also around this time that i found a granny flat of my own where i
could let my emotions loose without the strange looks of nearby people.
This girl, Kathleen was my rock. She listened to me for hours on end and helped me sort my shit out... She became my best friend
Then around the start on 1993, Kathleen moved in with me into my dinky little flat
I was finally getting my shit together...Next step was to get rid of my gas guzzling Holden Commodore and brought, probably, my most fav car..
I brought a Honda Prelude (2nd gen).. This was an amazing car and i loved driving it.
It had everything a young man could possibly want... Sunroof, pop up
headlights, sleek, small rubber wing, decent engine and it looked really
nice (similar to the car below)
Sadly, there was just one problem... It stalled.
The engine had twin carburetors and i don't know if this was the cause
but it had a little gremlin that if you put your foot down quickly,
instead of taking off, you would stall... :(
I didn't care, i loved driving this car and i started to enjoy life again...
But it was something i learned to live with and knew not to take silly risks.. besides, it had pop up headlights... yay
I was now living in my little granny flat which was behind a house in Greenacre, NSW and it was dinky.
By the end of 1993, we were engaged to get married.
I waited till she was peeling onions for dinner and i asked her to marry me...
And she said YES..
Problem was, i wasn't sure if she was crying because of the marriage
proposal or the onions doing their thing.. but she seemed happy so i
don't think it was the onions.
This mixtape was a emotional rollercoaster, with several songs at the time bringing me to tears as emotions got a hold of me... blame it on the onions.. (Hey, i'm only human)
2022 Update = Im still married to Kathleen and have 4 kids.. I was told by a doctor that i couldn't have kids due to damage done to pelvis and other 'bits' in the bike accident but hey, never stop believing and yes, they're mine..My daughter is a splitting image of me (is that a good thing or bad thing?...hmmm)

Hello and Welcome Back...Re-Recorded & Mastered from the Master Tapes, Delivered in FLAC EX
If there was a year that changed my Life, 1991 was that year...
Three things happened in 1991
1. Brought my first car
2. Left home
3. Moved in with my first real girlfriend
1. I finally brought my first car, it was a brand new 1991 Hyundai Excel Sprint, Aka.. Death Trap.
But it was my first car after relying on a mountain bike all my life.
The Hyundai was zippy, could pull a decent burnout (using the handbrake) and it had
heaps of room.
The problem was, that even know it cost me nearly $16,000, it was still bloody cheap.
Cheap plastic ruled on this car. It only had one mirror on the drivers side, so none
on the passenger side and the tyres were as shit as you could get...
One dark, wet night near Wollongong, NSW, I managed to skate my way across 4
lanes of highway and crapping the undies along the way...
Not good for
someone who just lived through a nasty car accident..
I was to replace this heap later in 1992 with a 5Ltr Holden Commodore (more on that in 1992).
My First Car..1991 Hyundai Excel Sprint
2. Left Home for the first time...
I had an itch, mostly to break free... I now had a car and wanted to get out and enjoy the world..
As fate would have it, my Nan & Grandad were having problems with a
unit they had rented in the outer suburbs of Campbelltown, a place
called Ambravale... so i decide i would take over, move out (to the
horror of my mother) and have a place to myself... I was to find out why my grandparents where having such a problem with this place...
A certain neighbor was giving them grief.. but it didn't worry me because
i was getting up at 3am and getting home around 6pm for work, i was never
home.. = Winning
3. The best part of my story...
I met my first real girlfriend, her name was Jodie...
She was
funny, beautiful and full of life, in fact, she kept me on my toes. I
often would ask myself 'Whats a stunning beautiful girl like this doing
with a nobody like me'...
Towards the end of 1991, she moved in with me in my dinky little flat...
It was such an amazing feeling, to come home from work and have my stunning girlfriend waiting for me.. Pure Magic.
We would go for drives for hours on end, go anywhere and often driving till sunrise..
Music played a big part of this experience, as the radio was playing while we drove here, there and everywhere.
Alot of the songs on this Mixtape, was when Jodie was by my side..
1991 for me, was Exciting, Scary, Magic, Fun and had amazing music. For once in my Life, Life was Good

Hello and Welcome Back...Master Tapes Have Been ReRecorded & Mastered in FLAC EX Format..
The Year Was 1990
The 80s was over and a new decade had started..
Actually the early 90s music was pretty good. I was getting over my accident (See 1989 About That Story) learning to put weight on my shattered pelvis was bloody hard...
Its hard to describe how much pain your body can produce but its alot. I
had a lot of time on my hands as my new lease of life became obvious to
me.
I was still living at home with my parents, which was lucky as i
couldn't do too much, thankfully, my mum used to be a nurse at Camden
Hospital so i was in good hands (Thanks Mum)
So time was spent listening to the radio, sleeping, watching TV,
sleeping, reading, sleeping, etc,etc... and this is the 1990 version of a
mixtape i made.
CDs were becoming the norm so mixtapes started to sound really good...

Hello and Welcome Back... Another Tape that Has Been Re-Recorded & Mastered with a selection of tasty treats that graced the airwaves back in 1985.
I recorded this tape around summer 1985 / early 1986, from memory, listening to radio stations 2SM, 2UW and Triple M in Sydney, Australia
At the time i did this tape, I was 15 and was headed into Year 10 at School. (Campbelltown High, here I Come), little did i know this was the last time i would step foot in a school ground, as a student anyway... best days of our lives?
It was for me, while i had my fair share of assholes wanting to bash the shit out of me, i had one thing they didn't.. Speed...I was a fast runner, came second in my year, probibly because i was still small and had these wicked shoes called Turbos that had little rubber nogs on the bottom of them are kinda sprang you foward when you ran in them
There was only one person that could keep up with me, that was Jason Robbins, a tall lanky ginger who his one step to him was about 3 of mine.. I did beat him once, only once, but he was sick... well, that was the story he told me.
Another thing that made 1985 memorable, was it was the year i had my first Walkman that i got for Christmas 1984, it was amazing to hear songs in stereo (thanks Mum & Dad)
From memory, i recorded this tape from my next door neighbors boom box that i had borrowed.
Take a listen, some songs you may not remember but once you hear them, you go "I Remember this"

When i wasn't at school, i was spending most of my time next door in my neighbours pool
My next door neighbours were like my second family.
Times spent swimming, laying in the sun listening to the radio, bike riding and kicking a football in the middle of the street tring to get the ball over the power lines..
I loved listening to the radio, mostly 2SM (Rock of the 80s) in Sydney, some great tracks graced the airwaves, passing many an hour.
Some of the rarer tracks are on this mixtape, some you may remember, some not, but have a listen....
You might find yourself going "Oh Yeah, I Remember this Track"
