 Hello and Welcome Back... In December 1988, i had just come back from visiting World Expo 88 in Brisbane, QLD and was looking forward to Christmas...

 

I was blown away about how good an accapella song could sound with No1 Track from Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry, Be Happy.. I had a CDC CD Player that had a headphone socked in the CD Player itself, and WOW, it sounded amazing... CDC player was made in Japan, loved it..

AN EXPLANATION

 Hello and Welcome Back.. An Explanation 

Had heaps of messages and emails yesterday about a take down notice i received by Australian Synth Pop band 'Pseudo Echo', mostly about why they decided to single me out with threats of legal action & also the legality of showcasing music / albums on this site.

I'll start with why they decided to come after me.

Background - I'm a medically retired pensioner that (thanks to a bad car smash), decided, rather than sit on my ass and play Playstation all day, decided to do something with myself in my spare time and being a huge fan of music, (helps block out the pain), i decided to, not only start this site 'Electronic80s' but also hone my skills as music remastering by finding old albums and breathing new life into them by adding lost 12inch singles and other remixes to the mix

I had noticed that apart from the original 1986 CD release of Pseudo Echo - Love an Adventure, this album was screaming for a remaster. So i dug through my library, spend over a week, re-recording the album and various remixes into a 24bit master, gently caressing the sounds so they sound lush and putting it all together.

So happy was i with what i had to offer, i stupidly sent a copy to the lead singer 'Brian Canham' who i followed on Facebook as i though he would care about a fan taking the time to create a masterpiece (well, that's what i thought) asking him 'What do you Think?, This would be a excellent album idea with all the various 12inch singles added and remastered to better than CD quality' I even offered for them to have the 24bit master i had made if they were interested..

A few weeks passed and nothing. I sent a follow up saying, 'Did you have a listen, what did you think?'

Still nothing, until yesterday...

There was no...'I loved the idea, we will look into it, btw i noticed you have some album links on your site, would you mind taking them down so if / when we do remasters of our albums, they don't clash'... Mind you, these albums are now 35 years old

Sadly No.. Legal action threats is what i got...(see below)

 

And that folks, is how they treat their fans..With legal action

(I have a bet with friends that, they will release a remastered version of this album and they didn't want me or another version of the album floating around so the can make their money...Time will tell)

Moving On..

To the Legality of this site..There is a disclaimer on the left of this site that states that NO music is stored on this site, Never has Been, Never Will...

What is on this site, is my work, my thoughts and links to MY music library that i have paid thousands of $$ for various Vinyl, CDs or Tapes (about 7 are Pseudo Echo CDs) pfft... 

The whole idea about this site is remembering music that i grew up with, holds special memories with, special places in time when a certain song came out and have long been forgotten... 

Its not until sites like Electonic80s showcase these songs & albums that many music lovers start remembering a time in their life when they go  'oh shit, i forgot about that song, my dad used to play that song in the car, sadly my dad has passed away but if i listen to this song, i remember when he was in my life"*... they then go on to listen to the album and maybe even download the album where they find other songs they didn't even know that this particular band also played that song...

So it then sets the trend in motion to find the best copy possible of that album only to find that album is now 40 years old.. hopefully its been remastered and can be brought at JB Hi Fi, if not, a Vinyl or CD version on Ebay.

This scenario has played out for me hundreds of times, remembering a time in my life, hunting down  the music, listening, downloading then wanting to find the best possible sound available, spending thousands on CDs, Vinyl, or Tapes over the years..

The Links on this Site are links to my own personal library, the music I Grew Up With.

The fact that Bands, Record Company's & the like think they can still make money with their 40 year old albums is, in one word... Delusional, but as we can see here with threats of legal action to those who share 'LINKS'... its very real

So, to those who say "its Illegal to Share Music'... I'm not Sharing Music, I'm providing Links..Nothing is 'Shared' on this site.

At the end of the day, there are ways and means of doing things, i don't make CDs and sell them at some pathetic over inflated price, No, that's what record company's are for, but to be treated like this for doing something i believed in, is just low.. But Hey, That's the Music industry for You

 Hello and Welcome Back... Sad news this morning with take down notice from one of my fav Synth Pop Bands 'Pseudo Echo'

 

To Say i'm disappointment and saddened is a understatement...

Its a Sad state of affairs that bands and Management just don't get that sites like Electronic80s is literally giving them 'free advertisement' of their work.

Guess how many albums i have brought on CD after listening to a download, love the album and went and brought a better copy, It would be in the thousands..(i'm not joking) 

I Loved this band and their music since High School and listening to their music brings back so many happy memories, which is why started this Electronic80s, to share the love and happiness that music brings to our lives

Being a musician myself with the outfit 'Dream Sequence', sure the music was shitty and weird but it hours and hours i spent crafting these sounds, not to the extent or popularity as Pseudo Echo (The Russians seemed to like it, yay, go Russians) but i'm more than happy for people to share my music, the more the better, but for some, sadly its always about one thing..

Sometimes, Not everything is about Money.

ERICH KUNZEL / CINCINNATI POPS ORCHESTRA ‎– TIME WARP (CD FLAC EX )

Hello and Welcome Back... Something a Bit Different

Its not everyday you come across a Warning on your CD saying not to play it too loud because you can destroy your speakers.

This CD Does...

Released in 1984, this album was the pinnacle of 'The Best'.. It was recorded in Pure Digital and contained frequencies that could leave your brand new stereo into a smoking mess...

I first heard this album back when my Dad brought his first CD player, i think it was a Rotel or was it a Pioneer, anyway.. It cost alot of money
His speaker setup was HUUUGE. It had your standard tweeter, Midrange and two huge woofers for each speaker...I witnessed picture frames and porcine ducks fall off the wall thanks to these speakers.. My mom hated it and its probably why they are now divorced, but still.. this was my dads pride and joy.

When he showed me this CD i was excited because it had the theme to my favorite show "Battlestar Galactica"... Play that one, Play that one.. I requested only to be drowned out by the massive thump of the first track "Ascent"..
'What the F#CK WAS THAT' both myself and my mother said in tandem, not that you could hear us as it sounded like a NASA space shuttle was taking off in our lounge room.. After some impressive but loud  space sound effects a few seconds later, i was like 'oh good, it finished'...time to hear Galactica, but no, there was another "Holy Shit' moment as a huge bass thump came flooding through the speakers.

I can or cannot confirm that this CD lead to my parents getting a divorce... I'll leave it at that.

ELECTRONIC DRUMS - A INTRODUCTION (Music Download)

Hello and Welcome Back... 3 Things remind me of the 80s... Fashion, Synths & Electronic Drums

Music in the 80s seen two major things happen.. The introduction of Synthesizers and drummers adding extra 'doosh doosh' sounds to their drum kits.

Dave Simmons was just one of the first to start playing with the notion that electronics and drums should go together, meaning one drum pad could create up to 20 different sounds, mind you, the notion that electronic and drums mesh together was thought of back in 1967 by a bloke called 'Felix Visser'

Timing was in Dave Simmons favor as the Simmons drum kit was right at home in the 80s, remember, synths and drum machines were very futuristic, very robotic... all part of the 80s scene

The album i have compiled is a snapshot of the various bands / sounds that had drum machines..

EMOTIONS - A CONTEMPORARY SOUNDTRACK

 Hello and Welcome Back... Some Music to Calm the Nerves..

You may have noticed that i haven't been active on this site for a week, in which i apologize...

 Life has been not the best, mostly due to pain but also due to bouts of depression that tends to pop up in your head at times...

As much as i try to ignore it, it still seems to affect my mood & motivation...

Pain is a big part of my life, and is usually not a big problem (thanks to my doctor) unless i do something stupid that upsets things, but you see, at the moment, its winter here in Aust land and if you ask anyone who deals with pain on a daily basis, the cold affects things and makes life bloody hard at times..

Then there's everything going on with corona virus. Every time you switch on a TV or listen to a radio its virus this or virus that...
Even the thought of having a simple cold now makes you feel like you could have corona virus and will probably die.. well that how i feel and it makes me feel sad and depressed at times.

As we head into September & October, it should start to warm up a bit and things should start going back to normal.. as for the virus, who bloody knows..

Moving On

I created this album after wishing for some music that not only sound good but soothes the nerves as well, easy listening songs, if you wish...

Most of these songs have a really nice melody and makes you feel good or sad aka 'Emotions'...

Sweet & Sour was an Australian TV show back in the 80s (1984) that shown on the ABC network.

Music was played through the series by the band "The Takeaways", although the band was fictional, the songs were real and very catchy.

Vocals on some songs inc Sharon O'Neil & Deborah Conway (Do Re Mi).

Recording musicians included various members from Australian bands inc The Sports, GANGgajang, The Angels, Mondo Rock, Skyhooks, Dragon, Divinyls, Mental as Anything, Deckchairs Overboard and a heap more..

The main song "Sweet & Sour" made it to top 10 in the Australian single music charts while the Soundtrack sold 70,000 copies

Several songs also made its way to Countdown (TV show) being, both the TV show & Countdown were on the same network (ABC)

Inspired by the U.S Album Series, "The Art of Compilation", i decided to remake these excellent albums but without the ultra long 12inch mixes that seem to go on forever..

The track selection on the originals are really good so i wanted to try and keep the feeling, using various 'similar' songs

My version = Art Of Compilation have been remastered from 24Bit master recordings and now feature various Album, Live & Remix versions that only go for 4-6 mins..

I have been listening to this album while going for my walks and are really excellent and sound so good...

Most are 'dance' orientated and have a groovy beats... excellent for workouts

ROXETTE DEMO TAPE

Hello and Welcome Back... Before Roxette, there was Demo's

My inspiration of making this Demo Tape was the various demo albums released by Roxette front- man "Per Gessle" who was the mastermind behind the sound.

So, i collected my favs and made this mixtape which i then re-mastered from a 24bit Recording.

BTW, This is one of my new re-masters that i made after making a mistake, only to learn that, that the  mistake sounded better than the way i normally do things... it now only take 9 steps to Re-Master my Music...
It now sounds more 'Fuller' with nice bass and crisp highs with excellent separation...

Love when that happens

BONNIE POINTER (Pointer Sisters) DEAD AT 69

Hello and Welcome Back... Sad News with the death of Bonnie Pointer, a founding member of "The Pointer Sisters".

Bonnie started the Pointer Sisters with her sister "June Pointer" in 1969.

By the Late 70s Bonnie had left the Pointer Sisters for a solo career and was replace by sisters 'Ruth' and 'Anita'

Bonnie released 4 solo albums & 8 singles..

She was only 69 years young..

UPDATE

Hello and Welcome Back... Finally some good news

So, last post, my drive failed but i did some research and seems there's a trick to get a SSD drive (my hard drive, kinda) working again..

You turn your computer on and leave it sit in BIOS for 30mins then, shut down and repeat and ...It Works.. My SSD drive now shows up again... only slower than before but its better than nothing..

I now can back up all my work..

Still got to replace the drive but al least its something...

Yay...

To the people who donated towards this, through the "Shout me a Coffee Fund"  a HUGE "Thank You".. It has helped heaps..

Sadly, not only has my CD drive decided to pack it in.. Now my SSD drive has too

The SSD drive has windows, all my music programs I use, around 20 albums I was working on and my whole ITunes library

I am guttered..

I did a back up of music albums about 2 months ago

Just when I was perfecting my Remastering sound, this slap in the face happens...

Please, if you can, please donate a few $ so I can get back on my feet again and start posting more awesome albums..
