Hello and Welcome Back... For Those Who Are New To This Site  (Bonus Album Of The Week)

Each tape tells a story about what was happening in my life as a young boy growing up in Campbelltown, South West of Sydney in Australia in the 80s

This is Tape 4

1984, I was 14 and in year 8 in High School. The music in 1984 was amazing, so many awesome songs graced my radio played by 2SM (Rock of the 80s). One of the best things i loved about 1984, was the music charts. These were like magical bits of paper that were free and found at most record stores or Just Jeans shops. It was so cool having one of these charts (pic below) then listening to the radio to see where your fav song is going

When I wasn't at school, i was spending most of my time, next door in my neighbours pool..

My next door neighbours were like my second family and Rebecca (girl next door), was my best friend.

1984 seen times spent swimming, laying in the sun listening to the radio, bike riding and kicking a football in the middle of the street trying to get the ball over the power lines with Rebecca's brother Adrian... also my best friend

My dad, from time to time would take me places to give my mum a break, one of these places was at the Amaroo race track or Oran Park race track near Narellan, NSW

One of the highlights of going to the races that year was seeing (and hearing) a jet truck called 'Waltzing Matilda' (pic below).. This was like nothing i had ever seen in my sheltered teenage life and it just blew me away. I remember my dad yelling at me 'Block your ears, Like NOW' as this jet truck fired into life. The sound was deafening as it seemed to go right through you with a huge flame jolting out the back.. It was an experience I'll never forget (thanks dad)

Moving On

This Mixtape found its life mostly on my dads stereo & my next door neighbours boom box (thanks John / Adrian) and some I have added a few of my rarer Favs over the years that you just don't hear anymore.. Take a Listen...
