It hit the #1 spot soon after (U.S Billboard Charts). #6 U.K & #19 Australia
The album contains 2 massive hits, those being 'Broken Wings' & 'Kyrie' which also kissed the #1 spot on the U.S singles charts. The other single, 'Is It Love' made it to #8 in the U.S
The album on offer is the 2015 Collectors Edition / Remaster from Rock Candy Records and has 6 Bonus Tracks added.

Not very electronic but this track reminds me a little, of the band 'U.K Squeeze'... Very crafty lyrics that tell an actual story.
The Kinks (also a U.K Band) released this song back in 1982 and was from the 1983 album 'State of Confusion'
The song was inspired by memories of the singers older sister, Rene, who
died of a heart attack while dancing at a dance hall.
The lyrics, sung
from the perspective of an "East End barrow boy," are about the boy's sister going on dates at a local Palais dance hall.

Lead singer of the 70s / 80s band 'The Cars' has died.
Ric Ocasek (Richard Theodore Otcasek) was the lead singer for most of the bands history which started around 1976 with Benjamin Orr (dec) swapping vocal duties
One of the Best 80s albums (in my opinion) was Rics 1986 solo album 'This Side of Paradise' which spawned the hit 'Emotion in Motion'.
The other excellent albums that are similar are 'The Cars - Heartbeat City'
& Benjamin Orr - The Lace
All are highly recommended albums...
Ric was an amazing singer/ music producer/ musician. He was only 75 years young.

CASSETTE - A DOCUMENTARY MIXTAPE
For me personally, i grew up with audio tapes.
Probably the best thing i can say about tapes (apart from sound) is depending what type of tape you used, depended on the type of sound you got or the amount of detail the tape reproduced.
The choice was staggering, you had TDK, BASF, Fuji, Sony, Maxell, AGFA, Memorex, Phillips, Technics, Scotch and Thats / Triad to name a few
My Favorites were 'Thats', Sony & TDK
Then you had a choice of Normal, Chrome and Metal, so again the sound changed from standard to very detailed depending on the type of tape you brought.
For me, my number one choice was 'Thats' Chrome Cassette's, seriously, the sound from these tapes were mind blowing, so good. (see below)
The only problem at the moment is the lack of Cassette Decks.
You can buy decks that are 20-40 years old, Made in Japan but parts failing (mostly rubber belts) or new decks made in China, no Chrome / Metal position selection and No Dolby... and bloody expensive for what they are...
Although, i still have a decent cassette collection, i will stick to my CD's, with less working parts and decent sound, i will wait for the day when the faithful Audio Tape makes a full comeback ...
This is the 1986 album by U.K outfit "Vicious Pink".
The two member's of Vicious Pink are Josephine Warden & Brian Moss (They were backing singers for the band Soft Cell (think 'Tainted Love'))
The album had several singles to its name, Those being "CCCant You See (#67 U.K Singles)", Fetish & Spooky (#87 U.K singles)
The single CCCant You See was big in Night Clubs and is a wicked song...

The same tune can be found on Track 4 called 'Blue', its interesting to hear the same tune but on two different songs.

The album seen 2 singles released, those being 'Promises Promises' (#11 U.S Billboard) and the huge 80s hit 'Always Something There to Remind Me' (#1 U.K, Canada & South Africa)

U.K outfit 'Erasure' released their forth album 'Wild' back in 1989, and to me, was their best album to date.
A excellent blend of pop, dance and ballads made this album gain 'Wicked' status & to back it up, seen four singles set free. Those were 'You Surround Me' (#5 Ireland), 'Drama' (#4 U.K), 'Blue Savannah' (#3 U.K/Ireland) & 'Star' (#4 U.S Dance)
Special mention to the track 'Brother & Sister' which could have been single if released.

Back in the 80s, in Australia, we had two magazines that i would buy religiously for news about my fav bands, posters, and lyrics.
Those two magazine's were 'Smash Hits' and 'Countdown'
Sadly, fast forward into the future, those magazine's are no longer... But one similar magazine is..
'CLASSIC POP MAGAZINE'
Classic Pop magazine is Printed in the U.K from Anthem Publishing.
The magazine covers 80s & 90s Music, News, Exclusive Photos & Interviews, Album Reviews (both Old & New) and heaps more.
The layout is easy to read and is available in Print (I love holding it in my hands) and Electronic form (IPad, Computer, etc, etc)
But I'm not in the U.K, ?? I hear you ask..
No Worries, they can post to your door (i love the smell of fresh print in the morning) OR you can download to your electronic device (there's an app for that)... See links

The song made it to #10 in the U.S Dance charts, and was used in the 1986 film soundtrack to 'Ruthless People' starring Danny DeVito & Bette Midler
It was also very popular in Europe reaching #7 in Belgium and #8 in Sweden's music charts.

Young Turks seen a change in sound for Scottish / English singer 'Rod Stewart' incorporating Synthesizers and Drum Machines into his music where previously it was more rock orientated.
Young Turks was a term meaning 'Rebellious Youth' and had nothing to do with Turkish people (prior to popular belief) and strangely enough, isn't even mentioned in the song.

I picked this song because it means alot to me.
It was 1984, I had received my first Walkman for Christmas that year and this was the fist song i heard when i switched it on... 'In Stereo' (that was a big deal back then)
It was also the year that both my grandparents came to Christmas lunch and it was truly a memorable moment, now that both have passed away, i just have to close my eyes and listen to this song and it takes me back to Christmas 1984... One that i will never forget.
Hello and welcome back... Went and seen this movie today.
I seen this at my local cinema (Glenbrook) and must say, I was impressed.
The music, the acting and best of all "Live Aid'... Absolutely nailed it, to the point that i got chills several times throughout the film (We will Rock You) was one of those times.
I didn't even get chills when watching Star Wars back in 1982 (Empire strike back?) but i did with this movie.
Bohemian Rhapsody is the story of rock band Queen and Freddie Mercury...The loves, the band and of course the music, how songs came together and the personal life of Freddie.
If you get the chance to see this amazing movie, do so.
I'm not a big fan of Queen 70s music, mostly love the 80s stuff and of course 'Live Aid' but its given me a new look at the early Queen.
Seriously, if this movie doesn't win awards... There is something wrong.
