ARETHA FRANKLIN DEAD

Hello and welcome back... Sad News Today

The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin has died. Aged just 76 years young, Aretha was the sound of Soul.

During the 80s, several singles were released including a smash with George Michael with 'I Knew You Were Waiting' in 1987.

RIP Aretha

TAYLOR DAYNE - EVERY BEAT OF MY HEART

Hello and welcome back... So Love This

From 1989, 'Every Beat Of My Heart' is a superb song by the stunning U.S. singer 'Taylor Dayne'.

I'm not a big fan of Taylor Dayne (I find her voice irritating) but i love this track... That chorus is awesome.

From the album 'Cant Fight Fate', 'Every Beat Of My Heart' made it to #5 in both U.S & Canada

Magic Song... Take a Listen

THE INTERNET OF THINGS

Hello and welcome back... A small rant

I love Ebay, there are so many CDs, so little time..

I buy and sell several CDs a week. Most of the time its smooth sailing.

But their seems to be a practice by a few CD sellers that seem to think its O.K to hold on your purchased goods for 1 -2 -3 weeks before posting your items...

You see, when i sell a CD, within that day, i will head to the post office and bid that beloved CD
bon-voyage as i send it on its way to its new owner.

So, it pisses me when i stumble across certian sellers who use the excuse 'Its Being Processed'... for 2 bloody weeks?... Seriously, put it in a jiffy bag and sent it to me... You've got my bloody money.

Speaking of money, for those who have never sold anything on Ebay, when you buy something, the money is held by Paypal until everything is finalised then in about 1 -2 - 4 weeks later, they release the money, that way if there are any discrepancies, the money can be refunded, which is fair enough.

BUT, certain sellers will hold posting your item until the payment has been cleared and then decide to post it, a few weeks later.

I already have a list of sellers who live by this practice and will not be buying from them again. Not a good way to do business

I am currently in this situation again. I stupidly (without checking their terms and conditions) brough a fairly rare CD (which i will share with you) when it finally arrives.

Its being Processed... Still

DOUG MULRAY - YOU ARE SOUL

Hello and Welcome back... Used to love listening to Uncle Doug on Triple M.

From 1986 came this trippy little number.

Every one wanted a Little Doug Mulray in the 80s, they used to say 'You Are.. You Are Soul'.. (Can you feel it?)

STEVE MILLER BAND - I WANT TO MAKE THE WORLD TURN AROUND

Hello and welcome back... Stunning song this.

From their 1986 album 'Living in the 20th Century' (2nd song) comes this lush sounding track called 'I Want To Make The World Turn Around' which made to #1 in the U.S Rock Charts (stayed there for six weeks).
The Saxophone is played by Kenny G.

I had actually forgotten this song, until i found a tape called 'Classic Tracks' which i recorded around the late 80s.

Take a listen and be swept away by this magic song.

Used to always hear this song on 2SM (Radio Station) when i visited my Nan's and listen to the radio all night.

JIMI JAMISON - I'M ALWAYS HERE

Hello and welcome back... Lately iv'e been checking out some of my Fav T.V shows from the 80s & 90s. These include shows like Magnum P.I, Knight Rider, Sliders and... Baywatch.

And this is where this song comes in. You probably don't recognize the name but you will know the song 'Im always here' as the Baywatch theme.

Jimi Jamison was the frontman for 80s band 'Survivor' (think Eye of the Tiger).

Sadly in Sept 2014, Jimi died of a heart attack, he was only 63 years young

Such a mad song... Turn it up :)

MY TOP 5 FAV 80S CHRISTMAS SONGS

Hello and welcome back... Its that time of year again.. Christmas

I Love Christmas, its got a certain feeling about it.

From the department stores that have been decorated, warm weather, family get-togethers, good food and the birth of Jesus Christ.

A friend asked me the other day, what was the best Christmas you remember?
I would have to say... Christmas 1984

It was a warm day, about 32deg (90f), both my Grandparents turned up (that was rare) and i got my first Walkman from Santa. I could now listen to FM Stereo for the fist time although my fav station was 2SM (rock of the 80s) on the AM band.

I put the new battery's in, sniffed that new plastic smell, turned the Walkman on and the first song i heard was 'Band Aid - Do They Know Its Christmas' in 'stereo'.
I had chills and its a time i will never forget, even now, as both my grandparents are no longer alive.

So this is my top 5 Christmas songs that i love to listen to at this amazing time of year.

1. BAND AID - DO THEY KNOW ITS CHRISTMAS

2.THE PRETENDERS - 2000 MILES

3. WHAM - LAST CHRISTMAS

4. JOHN LENNON - HAPPY CHRISTMAS

5. PAUL McCARTNEY - WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS TIME

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THE TIME TO SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY READERS OF THIS SITE.

SEE YOU IN 2018

98 ALBUMS YOU NEED TO HEAR BEFORE THE WORLD ENDS - NEW WEBSITE

Hello and welcome back... You may have noticed that the posts on this site have been a bit limited. This is because of 2 things.

1. I have started a new site called '98 Albums you need to hear before the World Ends'.
I wanted to create a site that lists all my favorite albums of all time (not just 80s) although most will be from the 80s.
I hope to turn this into a book one day.
Also i will be giving you, the listener, the option at the end to get your hands on the AAC (320kbps) versions of all 98 albums for you to listen to.

Some of these albums are pretty rare and hard to find on CD.

Take a Look, Take a listen = http://98albums.blogspot.com.au/

2. Ive run out of ideas of Electronic80s, but not to fear, i will add as tracks come to mind :)

Please also consider making a small donation on the top right of this page, its much appreciated and really makes my day.

Many Thanks, hope you like the new page.

J. GEILS BAND - COME BACK

Hello and welcome back... Love this, amazing sound.

From the 'Love Stinks' album from 1980 came this wicked track, heavy on the synths and those guitars... WOW

Its pretty good, considering in 1980, Synths were not that predominant in main stream music, where rock and punk still lived...

A sign of things to come? Yes it was.

Play LOUD :)

J.GEILS BAND - COME BACK  (1980)

'Come Back' made it to #24 in the Canadian music charts. #32 U.S, #34 Australia.

Sadly in April 2017, John J. Geils (lead Guitars), passed away, he was 71 years young.  RIP
