Its pretty scratched but was able to upload to my computer, then use Soundhound to identify the tracks (my memory is not that good).... So hear it comes, the next few posts will be from that CD i affectionately named... "Munchies for your Bass" - Late 80s, Early 90s Dance / Rave.. Enjoy

First track is by Moby called UHF3, not sure if was ever a single. There was a a B-side track called UHF2. Still its pretty awsome.

RETRO CASIO WATCHES

Hello and welcome back... Something a little different.

For the first time in 20 years or so, I have now started to wear a watch. I decided all those years ago that i was not going to be bounded by the hands of time.

So what changed my mind?

When i was 17-18, I was a huge lover of all things electronic, and why not.. Most things back then around 1987-88 were made in Japan.
Apart from my beloved AIWA Walkman than i paid a small fortune for, I owned a Casio Data watch. This was a watch that not only told the time (that's handy) but it could store 30 phone numbers and names in its memory, back then this was a huge thing, so was the calculator watch... Very Battlestar Galactica
Being i was into radio scanning at the time (still am) i would store radio frequencies into my watch, that way when i traveled, i had all the info i needed.

Fast forward 30 years or so, i stumbled across a eBay seller selling Casio watches at an amazing price. I hadn't seen these watches in years, turns out Casio are still making these retro watches.... There is a huge demand for watches that are reliable, cheap and is.. a watch.. not a health buddy, not a GPS tracker, just a watch.

The watch i brought was the same as i got when i was 18 (not made in Japan anymore but its still a genuine Casio), The Casio Databank watch. The seller of these watches is in Sydney (Australia) and is called "Monster Trading Store" with a little green monster for a logo.
Post was fast... i'm talking 2 days.
Of course it will take longer if you are interstate or overseas but still, they kept me up to date with everything and that's the way business should be like. I was impressed.

I am very happy with my Casio Databank watch (only cost me $30 inc Post)... I am a happy customer living a childhood memory with my new watch.

Hello and welcome back.... From The Netherlands back in 1984 came this track... Called 'Woodpeckers From Space"

Videokids was the work of two members being.. Peter Slaghuis and Bianca Bonelli.
Sadly Peter, who did the vocals, died in a car accident in 1991

The song Woodpeckers from Space made it to No1in the Norway & Spain Music charts. Later in 1985, the south African  band 'Cafe Society (Costa Anadiotis)' did a cover of Woodpeckers from Space which made it to No1 in South Africa

STEVE STRANGE (VISAGE) DEAD AT 55

Hello and welcome back... Sad and shocking news this morning about Visage front man "Steve Strange" who was found dead in a Egyptian hotel from a heart attack at age 55. He died in his sleep.

Steve was synonymous with the 'New Romantic' movement in the early 80s in London. The Blitz Nightclub was his favorite haunt along with Boy George, Rusty Egan, Marilyn and Midge Ure.

Steve was the face of Electronic 80s band 'Visage', His music led a cult of followers including Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet and Dead or Alive.

For me as a music writer and lover of 80s electronic music... I am devastated. Steve was one of the first to follow electronic80s1 on twitter and i felt honored to have Steve follow me. I chatted with him a few times and wish that i had met him in person.

Rest In Peace Steve.
