Hello and Welcome Back.. Interesting to Hear about the difference between SHM-CD (Poly-Carbonate coating from Japan) to a standard Red-Book CD (Red-Book is the standard protocol in CD manufacturing (16bit/44.1khz)..
Personally, i'm not a big fan of SHM-CD's, If find them Loud (often brickwalled to an inch of their lives), harsh and not enjoyable, which is why i prefer West German 'Atomic' / 'Target' CDs & Japan 1st / 2nd Issue CDs for a more natural overall sound.. But, that's just me (i use headphones for music listening)
