TRIPLE J - SATURDAY NIGHT REQUEST 1989-90 (FLAC EX Version)

 Hello and Welcome Back... A bit of a special album for me.

 

 

Back in 1989, i spent 4 months in hospital after a bike accident (See Here). That time was spent, mostly in excruciating pain, so much so, my hair fell out, but it did have its good moments..

There was one day out of the week i looked forward to, that day was Saturday.

Saturday evenings were the highlight of my hospital stay mostly because of two things

1. Hey Hey Its Saturday = Spent with my relatives who traveled over an hour to watch TV on a tiny little hospital TV which i was most grateful for, it was great to see some familiar faces..

2. Saturday Night Requests on radio station 'Triple J' (Sydney, NSW)

Triple J is a alternative radio station and in the late 80s, played some wicked songs, mostly industrial dance but Saturday night request was when things got interesting. 

With the tune of 'Public Image Limited - The Order of Death' (this is what you want, this is what you get) playing in the background, (i had to ring the radio station for that one).. music lovers would ring up and request all sorts of excellent tunes. 

Thankfully, my parents had brought me a portable stereo recorder (Sharp = Made in Japan) to perk me up (depression was creeping in) and some blank tapes and if i heard anything interesting, i would hit the record button and that's where this album comes from..

Sadly the original tape was stolen years later (bastards) after my flat was broken into (bastards again) but memory is a good thing... Can't remember what i did yesterday but can remember a tune from 35-40 years ago.. Go Figure

And so, I set about remaking my lost cassette and i'm very pleased with the results, some real rare gems on this album... Hope You Like
