1989 - LOST HITS MIXTAPE (Re-Recorded FLAC EX)

Hello and Welcome Back... Re-Recorded and now in FLAC EXpanded Frequency = Soundz Moist

For me, 1989 started swimmingly.

I was working at a Air Conditioning factory in Enfield, NSW as a process worker building Air Conditioners  (Dricon / Diamond Air).
My day would start at 3.30am in order to catch the 4.30 train to Strathfield.
This train was a beast, It was a Diesel from Goulburn, known to me as a Bullnose Diesel (aka Streamliner)
This train would fly through Glenfield station in 3 seconds flat...It was Fast

Then came the day that would change my life forever.

September 9th 1989

It was the day that I was hit by a car at 90kmph on my mountain bike on the way to work.
I was thrown 23metres (about 2 blocks) from the point of impact and I landed heavily on the road.
Me, hitting the road with such force that it broke my pelvis in 4 places, broke my collar bone, dislocated my left shoulder, broke my nose and tore my urethra (from the bladder out).

I remember laying on the road with the sounds of 'Def Leppard - Rocket' still playing on my Walkman (nice one AIWA).
I was freezing... The force of the impact ripped my shoes from my feet and in the distance, the sound of an arriving ambulance.

Then I Died.

I remember feeling pure euphoria, surrounded by a white light... just floating in this white light.
It lasted for, what felt like 30 seconds when suddenly i was back, with the smiling face of an ambulance officer looking down at me

I was greeted by a 'Welcome Back'.

From then, I was airlifted by the Careflight Helicopter, from Campbelltown to Liverpool Hospital for 2 operations, then airlifted again to Westmead for another operation, then back to Liverpool where i was to spend 4 months laying in a hospital bed to try and fix my broken pelvis.
 But it wasn't over.
Blood was still leaking into my abdomen.

When the pelvis broke, it severed my blood supply to my legs and bled into my abdomen and testicles (my testicles were the size of a football)...I kid you not.

Off for another operation. This 4th operation was to be the second time that I Died.
The same beautiful feeling and white light, this time it lasted longer.

34 blood transfusions later, I was back. (just)

Me, still smiling..

By the end of the 4 months, i was down to 25.3kg in weight.

Music was the thing that kept me sane..

Back to the Music..
During the 4 months laying there, I got the chance to catch up on various TV Shows (Good Times, Different Strokes, Days of our Lives & Hey, Hey, Its Saturday) and heaps of radio listening, mostly Triple J (got sick of hearing 'Richard Marx - Right Here Waiting' on the other stations)

So Here It Is, my Mixtape i did while i was in Hospital. (and a bit when i got home)

One good thing about contracting 'Golden Staph infection' (nearly killed me...again) is that, i got a room all by myself... yay.
I recorded this tape on my sisters boombox (a Hitachi, i think), later my dad brought me a wicked Sharp boombox, made in Japan with CD player... Niiice.

The first part of the Mixtape is mostly dance stuff.
Saturday nights on Triple J had a request time, so heaps of good tunes were played

NEW ORDER - FINE TIME

DEF LEPPARD - ROCKET

Not only did i die listening to this song but in the video above, it has the words 'Collision Course' written across the screen at the exact time i got hit and with bicycles hung on a rack... Creepy Shit or What?

MY SPICE RACK...

Fast Forward to Now, the pelvis is still giving me grief.
The pelvis is split apart at the front and as i get older, the muscles holding things in place weaken and added weight is pushing it further apart. Its not uncommon to slip in the shower and few minutes later have blood appear running down my legs because i tore the scar at the front.
Yes, i have tried puling the pelvis back together but it just opens a whole other can of worms, things ain't where they should be...

Could be worse, Could be Dead....
