Hello and Welcome Back... Some of you eagle eyed music lovers have realized that i deleted a heap of compilations from the 70s & 80s on this site..
WHY?
When i started doing the various artist compilation albums years ago, i was using MP3 songs taken from various places and building the albums from there.. Some, i got from tape but mostly from poor scorced mp3s.
Since then i have switched from AAC files to FLAC files as i believe this is a s close as you can get to CD quality sound. Doing this has mean that my music library is chock full of CD FLAC files and this is what i am using to build the compilation albums again..
Mastering the albums will be different too as the previous method i used, involved using a blank CDs then record the album to the CD (auto level) then play back from the CD. While this method solved the Auto Level issue, it seem to take the life out of the song, as the songs sounded very 'Flat'..
I use headphones in all my music, both recording and playback and i could notice the quality diminish with this method..
Since then, i now use Adobe Audition (see pic below) to remaster my music and i'm very pleased with the way it sounds, considering im starting with CD songs and building from there, it sounds heaps better..
The pic below shows my current work on '1984 - Shakin' being built and should be finished in the next week or so.. I listen to the finished album a few times to make sure no songs are suddenly going to leave you deaf because of leveling issues... (thank me later)
So, fear not, better quality albums will be gracing your ears soon...
Cheers, and Enjoy The Music...
Michael xxx
