Released in 1989, 'Hits of 89 Volume 1' was a Australian music compilation showcasing various popular songs from the year 1989...
Back in 1989, I worked at Enfield, NSW building Air Conditioners for a company called 'Dricon Air (Diamond Air)' and once i finished work around 3pm, would walk to Strathfield train station (took about an hour) to catch my train at 4pm which was a wicked bull nose diesel that would stop only at Liverpool, then Campbelltown (which was my stop)...
Mind You, walking from Enfield to Strathfield is no mean feat, the 5.5km walk meant i had to walk fast, at times run or sprint to make sure i made it to my beasty ride or it was a shitty electric train ride home... never going to happen, not on my watch...
I had my trusty AIWA walkman, my 'Hits of 89 Vol' cassette and off I went...
The sound quality of this album is excellent, with standout tracks from Toni Childs, Neneh Cherry, UB40, & Melissa Etheridge.. Even the Jimmy Barnes (who i can't stand) track is pretty good, as his usual screeching is set to a minimum, prob about the only song i like of his...
Enjoy, what was a excellent carefree time in my life before it turned into a nightmare (Bike accident was to happen a few months later)...Did i Die, Sadly Yes.. Twice
