CLASSIC POP MAGAZINE

Hello and welcome back... Every now and again, i feel the need to shout about something from the rooftops, this time its about an amazing read... 'Classic Pop Magazine'

Back in the 80s, in Australia, we had two magazines that i would buy religiously for news about my fav bands, posters, and lyrics.
Those two magazine's were 'Smash Hits' and 'Countdown'

Sadly, fast forward into the future, those magazine's are no longer... But one similar magazine is..

'CLASSIC POP MAGAZINE'

Classic Pop magazine is Printed in the U.K from Anthem Publishing.

The magazine covers 80s & 90s Music, News, Exclusive Photos & Interviews, Album Reviews (both Old & New) and heaps more.

The layout is easy to read and is available in Print (I love holding it in my hands) and Electronic form (IPad, Computer, etc, etc)

But I'm not in the U.K, ??  I hear you ask..

No Worries, they can post to your door (i love the smell of fresh print in the morning) OR you can download to your electronic device (there's an app for that)... See links

For posting to your location, I highly recommend ordering directly from Anthem Publishing for trouble free delivery, it will save both time and money dealing directly from the publishers (From a Personal Experience)

Considering there is nothing like this in Australia anymore, its a bonus to have such a wonderful magazine available.

10/10

Classic Pop also do, from time to time, a special magazine dedicated to your favorite band / artist and features album breakdowns, singles reviews, album art, behind the scenes and more...

The video below is a review of the Madonna Special..

Please Note = This post is of my own doing.
I have had no endorsements or advertising instructions from Classic Pop Magazine / Anthem Publishing.
I am a happy paying customer of Classic Pop Magazine and if something is worthy of shouting from the rooftops, then why not.
Cheers

THE MASH - SUICIDE IS PAINLESS

Hello and welcome back...

If your a lover of the T.V show 'MASH' then you will instantly recognize this song. Its the MASH theme but not how you remember it.

Released in 1980 by 'The MASH' (Johnny Mandel / Mike Altman) 'Suicide is Painless' reached #1 in the U.K & Irish music charts.

Written by a 14 year old, its a sad, bleak song, ts sort of fitting for a song used for a T.V show about war even if it had some comedy themes in it.

Take a Listen

ROD STEWART - YOUNG TURKS

Hello and welcome back... Such a magical song.

Released back in 1981 on the 'Tonight I'm Yours' album and made it to #1 in Canada, #3 in Australia, #5 in U.S & #11 in U.K

Young Turks seen a change in sound for Scottish / English singer 'Rod Stewart' incorporating Synthesizers and Drum Machines into his music where previously it was more rock orientated.

Young Turks was a term meaning 'Rebellious Youth' and had nothing to do with Turkish people (prior to popular belief) and strangely enough, isn't even mentioned in the song.

Play Loud :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2018 AND HAPPPY NEW YEAR

Hello and welcome back..

Just wanted to wish all my readers of this site a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for 2018 / 2019.

Also a special 'Thank You' to all readers who supported this site through kind donations using the 'Shout Me a Coffee' tab, you guys are what keeps this site alive, so "Thank You"

I picked this song because it means alot to me.

It was 1984, I had received my first Walkman for Christmas that year and this was the fist song i heard when i switched it on... 'In Stereo' (that was a big deal back then)

It was also the year that both my grandparents came to Christmas lunch and it was truly a memorable moment, now that both have passed away, i just have to close my eyes and listen to this song and it takes me back to Christmas 1984... One that i will never forget.

Merry Christmas, see you next year.

FOREIGNER - WAITING FOR A GIRL LIKE YOU (5.1 SACD Mix)

Hello and welcome back... This sounds magic

Found this while traveling Youtube.

Its a 5.1 SACD (Super Audio CD) surround mix of 'Foreigner - Waiting For A Girl Like You' by YouTube user MarioPindaBR

I wish all music sounded this good, instead of this so called 'Remastering' that pushes the sound so high, it distorts... horrid.

Take a listen, you will see what i mean, try to use a good set of headphones.

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY (Movie)

Hello and welcome back... Went and seen this movie today.

I seen this at my local cinema (Glenbrook) and must say, I was impressed.

The music, the acting and best of all "Live Aid'... Absolutely nailed it, to the point that i got chills several times throughout the film (We will Rock You) was one of those times.
I didn't even get chills when watching Star Wars back in 1982 (Empire strike back?) but i did with this movie.

Bohemian Rhapsody is the story of rock band Queen and Freddie Mercury...The loves, the band and of course the music, how songs came together and the personal life of Freddie.

If you get the chance to see this amazing movie, do so.

I'm not a big fan of Queen 70s music, mostly love the 80s stuff and of course 'Live Aid' but its given me a new look at the early Queen.

Seriously, if this movie doesn't win awards... There is something wrong.

For me, Its a 10/10

FUNDING DRIVE

Hello and welcome back...

I will say this first... I hate asking for money

But, sadly its what makes the world go round, it also helps support websites like this, not only in extra storage but music content... Good quality music content, mostly from original CDs using AAC 320kbps files... This costs money

Why don't you go out to work? i hear you ask..

Sadly my working days are behind me, thanks to several medical problems, i wont bore you with details but it involved a car going 90kmph and a bike (i was on the bike).. A smashed pelvis, back problems, shoulder problem, ect, ect... = Pain and more pain now is a part of my life, but im not ungrateful, im alive and i have music, dont get me wrong, i can still do a few thing, but God, it hurts.

Proof i hear you say, photo or it didn't happen... see below

This was me, spending 4 months in hospital with 4 breaks to my pelvis

The scar that you see here was because of internal bleeding, when the pelvis broke, it cut the main arteries to my legs that then bleed into my stomach, died twice and 24 blood transfusions later.

So, where are i going with this?

What i'm asking is for donations this weekend to keep the content coming in, and to help with storage costs. In return i will provide this site and you guys (music lovers) with interesting and sometimes rare versions of albums in high quality for your enjoyment.

All i ask this weekend, is that if you like this site, just click on the "Shout Me A Coffee Fund" on the top right corner of this site and donate $5 or $10 (or more) and it only takes 30 seconds to do but it means so much to me...

Like i said at the start, i hate having to ask for money, but it goes a long way to make life enjoyable and if i can give something back (interesting, high quality music for you to enjoy) then my job is done.

Thanks for reading, and letting me share a small portion of my life with you..

PROMISES - BABY ITS YOU

Hello and welcome back... Just outside the 80s

From 1978 (seems so long ago), Canadian /American band 'Promises' had this wicked sounding track which made it to #1 in New Zealand, #2 in Australia #4 in Germany.

The lady at the front with the huge voice is 'Leslie Maria Knauer', shirtless synth player is 'Benny Knauer' and guitars was 'Jed Knauer'... Yes, they are all related.

Love the early synths in this, sounds amazing...
