ROB HIRST - DRUMMER FOR AUSTRALIAN BAND 'MIDNIGHT OIL' HAD DIED
Hello and Welcome Back... Sad news today, with the death of 'Rob Hirst', drummer / founding member / vocals for Australian band 'Midnight Oil'
If you have ever seen this band live, you will know what a powerhouse drummer Rob was, in fact, he was so ferocious with drumming, the roadies had to nail his drum-kit down to the floor at some shows because of his energy he put into his music..
He was 70 years young

Hello and Welcome Back... Back in the late 80s, one of my favorite pastimes was to go visit various record stores around Sydney, NSW.
One of those suburbs was Strathfield, NSW which was also on my way home from work, it had a great record store in the plaza.
This is where I came across this album 'Vertigo'. It was playing on the speakers in the store and I instantly loved the sound.. If you like "New Order" you would like this band. Its one of those albums that is a great listen from start to finish.. Take a Listen

One thing that strikes me about this album is the mastering, its probably one of the best sounding albums out there with a mix of 80s and new songs sounding punchy and 'moist', mostly by using a technique called 'Parallel Compression'.

Hello and Welcome back... Its 2026, Hope everyone had a happy, safe Christmas & New Year..
Sadly, we lost U.K singer / musician 'Chris Rea' over the break.. He was 74 years young.. RIP
On a personal note, I lost my second mum. He name was Lynn Stone, she lived next door to me when I was growing up in Campbelltown, NSW.
She was the best, carefree, easy going and was just an amazing person. Sadly she succumbed to brain cancer and passed away just a few days after Christmas..
I decided to write / produce a song in memory of Lynn (and my Mother in Law 'Barbara Eade' who passed away from Pancreatic Cancer in 2025). Its the first time I have ever written a sad song, I usually write happy dance songs so I have something to listen to when I go for my walks..
Probably, one of the hardest songs I have ever written & composed.. Many tears & tissues later, I finally finished it.. Take a Listen
