Hello and Welcome Back... I Thought i Might Touch On This Topic..
Every now and again, i get emails from people asking why i don't post new remastered albums, usually 2-3-4 CDs in size..
And
Whats with the Japanese CDs i post?
So i thought i would answers some of your questions..
1. Why 80s CDs and not new remastered CDs.? = The one thing i love about my music library that i share with you guys / gals is the collection of 80s / early 90s CDs that to me, have better sound quality than the newer remastered albums..
Around the middle of the 90s, a thing called 'Loudness Wars' started, that record company's thought that by turning up the volumes of the overall album during the recording process would be a good thing. Some people don't even notice, its just music right?
What you start to notice when you listen to newer albums that have been brickwalled to the shithouse during the recording process is the headaches, ear fatigue and brain fatigue, where as the CDs that were recorded during the 80s & early 90s contained dynamic range that sounds more natural, sure you may have to turn the headphones up a bit more but the sound quality, if you have a good set of headphones will sound more natural and be an enjoyment to listen to... for longer.
This video explains what i'm talking about..Only goes for 3mins but explains it perfectly..
2. - JAPAN CDs
Once again, its all about sound quality and extra tracks...
Often albums recorded in Japan in the 80s /90s used original studio mastertapes (they could afford it) when making their CDs while other country's used 'Platters' to make theirs that, sadly can sound very generic..
Also to make CD more interesting, music company's in Japan would add bonus tracks not available to other country's so customers in Japan would buy Japan CDs and not from other country's even know they were more expensive in Japan...
Also the quality of materials used in manufacturing in Japan was way superior than other country's where the mighty $$ came before sound quality..
This is evident where i have CDs form other country's that are literally flaking away because the CD making process was so cheap... Something, i have never had with a CD made in Japan..
So, basically, Sound Quality is what i strive for on this site, which is why i prefer original 80s CDs over remastered CDs and Japan Original CDs made in the 80s and early 90s..
Hope This Helps...
Enjoy The Music...
