THOMPSON TWINS - INTO THE GAP (Full Concert and Documentary)

Hello and welcome back.... I found this interesting..

Being a huge fan of 80s band "Thompson Twins" this video is a documentary and live set of the 1984 era about the album launch 'Into the Gap'

In a classic rags to riches story, it documents the life of a pop star that sometimes, isn't all that glamorous as it all seems and then ... The Concert, The show must go on.

LEVEL 42 - RUNNING IN THE FAMILY (Lost Hit)

Hello and welcome back.... This still sounds fresh and lively, even today..

U.K band "Level 42", to date, have released 11 albums in total (and i thought they were a one hit wonder band)...
'Running in the Family' made it to No 6 in the U.K music charts (No 83 in the U.S) but sadly couldn't match their previous single 'Lessons in Love' which shot to No3 (U.K) and No12 (U.S).

What made Level 42 stand out?
Apart from catchy sounding songs, it was the combination of quirky Bass guitar rhythms, snappy syth work (Yamaha DX7?) and catchy vocals (Mark King) with old fashioned lyric writing made 'Level 42' sounding polished and a pleasure to listen to.

Some debate as to where 'Level 42' got their name... Some say its taken from Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy (42 was the answer to the meaning of life) and some say its in relation to a carpark in China that has 42 levels... what do you think (join the discussion on Twitter @Electronic80s1)

TOMMY TUTONE - 8675309 / JENNY (Lost Hit)

Hello and welcome back..... One hit wonder back in 1982 for U.S band "Tommy Tutone"

The song became so popular that people in the United States to this day dial this telephone number and ask for Jenny as a prank. Regarding the famous number, "We had people threatening to sue us. It was the Buffalo Chief of Police's daughter's number in New York," said frontman Tommy Heath. (thanks to Wikipedia for the info)

Such an awesome song, one that I never get sick of hearing... enjoy

TOMMY TUTONE - 8675309 / JENNY

OK, MY GRIPE
Here in Australia, we have to put up with alot of things, being ripped off from Apple (products / Itunes prices are like double the price of America regardless if our dollar is strong) amongst other things, and it seems were not good enough to watch videos.. Seriously??
I was going to put the original video of this song on this post, but no.. Its blocked
Absolutely pathetic. @VEVO

PSYCHEDELIC FURS

Hello and welcome back... U.K band "Psychedelic Furs" have always been a favorite of mine, hearing the song 'Love My Way' played thru the 80s on Sydney radio '2SM - Rock of the 80s'.

Their music was classed as 'Post-Punk' or 'New Wave', or 'Rock'

The Psychedelic Furs (sometimes known as 'The Furs') consisted of brothers 'Richard (lead vocals) and Tim Butler' (Bass Guitar)

Other members included Duncan Kilburn (left 1982) (Sax), Vince Ely (replacing Paul Wilson in 1980)-(Drums), Roger Morris (left 1982) (Guitars) and John Ashton (Guitars)

The Furs released 7 studio albums to date and a slather of singles... Possibly their biggest break was the song 'Pretty in Pink', used in the movie with the same name ( movie director / producer John Hughes), this pushed a re-recorded version to No18 on the U.K music charts.

Songs I like from the Psychedelic Furs are 'Heartbreak Beat'(1987), 'Heaven'(1984), 'Pretty in Pink'(1981-86) and my biggest fav 'Love My Way'(1982)... Its pure 80s, Sound and vision.... So Good..

LIO - AMOUREUX SOLITAIRES (Lost Hit)

Hello and welcome back....Keeping with the French theme (see previous post) comes this song.

Belgian pop singer "Lio" (Wanda Maria Ribeiro Furtado Tavares de Vasconcelos) (wow), had several hits in the early 80s including 'Banana Split', 'La reine des pommes' and this catchy number " Amoureux Solitaires".

'Banana Split' and 'Amoureux Solitaires'both made it to No1 in the French music charts.

So French, So Chic but very annoying, the fact that once you hear it...it wont leave your head (you have been warned :))
