TOP 10 ALBUMS OF ELECTRONIC80S

Hello and welcome back.....Something a bit different, the top 10 albums of electronic80s.
So how did we pick the top albums?, it certainly wasn't about how popular they were, or about whether the band was the best in class.

To pick a top album in the electronic80s top 10, the album had to be playable from start to finish...No fillers, so basically you press play then leave it play and enjoy what you hear. Pure Music Bliss

So here it is....The top 10 albums of electronic80s, as voted by the team at electronic80s.

NO1....THE WINNER IS = KOO DE TAH - KOO DE TAH

WHY? - I love this band... and this album does a great reflection that great 80s sound, smooth and punchy synths with the incredible electric drum sound and the stunning voice of  Tina Cross. All songs are killers from 'Too Young For Promises', 'Body Talk' 'Change My Ways' and the haunting song 'Drift Away" (A personal Favorite of mine)....A 10/10 album
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NO 2.... DEF LEPPARD - HYSTERIA
This was close call for no1 position and caused many a heated debate here at electronic80s,
Def Leppard was one of the biggest bands of the 80s. They had a magic sound, and spawned songs like 'Pour some Sugar on me',  'Animal', 'Love Bites', 'Hysteria' and 'Rocket' (Rocket was the song I was listening to when I was hit by a car and died twice)..... Top song pick for the album, 'Gods of War' it has an ending that leaves you wanting more.
DEF LEPPARD lost by only 1 vote

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NO3.....NEW ORDER - SUBSTANCE 1987
Dance music at its best, from the foundation that was Joy Division to one of the top electronic bands of the 80s. Catchy guitar riffs, lush and divine synth sounds and beats that surround the senses, this is pure Heaven.
Songs that made this album worthy include 'Blue Monday', 'Shellshock', 'Bizzare Love Triangle', 'True Faith' and 'Thieves Like Us'..... pick of the album would be '1963', a moody love song with a sad undertone.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NO 4..... PHIL OAKEY & GIORGIO MORODER - PHIL OAKEY / GIORGIO MORODER
This album spawned the song 'Electric Dreams' but it had so many other amazing sounds and songs that sadly didn't get to see the light of day. This album was a collaboration by two of the biggest synth legends of the 80s....Phil Oakey from The Human League and Giorgio Moroder, (Think 'Donna Summer', 'Blondie' &'Irene Cara' to mention a few) I love this album, it runs from start to finish without many gaps and hade songs like 'Goodbye Bad Times', 'Why must the show go on' and 'Be my lover Now'... my pick of the album would be 'Brand New Love (Take A Chance)'.....The synths are a dream, love the middle eight area (puts chills up my spine).

Another 10/10 album

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NO 5........A-HA - HUNTING HIGH AND LOW
A Norwegian classic with a stunning video to match, 'A-HA' burst on to the scene in 1985 with the song 'Take On Me' and has been a favorite of mine ever since. Lush synths, edgy beats and a voice like no other makes this a stand out album. Amazingly 'Take on Me' was released in the U.K 2 times before it finally took off on the 3rd attempt. Other songs to mention are 'Train of Thought', 'Love is reason', 'Hunting High and Low' and ' Dream Myself
Alive'...... My pick of the album would be 'The Sun always shines on TV', this song is pure magic.

Another 10/10 album

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No 6.........YAZOO - UPSTAIRS AT ERICS (YAZ in the U.S)
Take a legendary synth guru, Vince Clarke (Think Depeche Mode, Erasure) and the honey like voice of Alison Moyet and you have Yazoo. Released in 1982, Vince experimented with the sounds on this album and the songs turn out as a work of pure genius. Tracks that come to mind are 'Don't Go', 'Midnight', 'Only You', 'In my Room' and 'Bring your Love Down'.....my pick of the album would have to be 'Goodbye 70s', A kick arse dance song that says...Well, Goodbye to the 70s.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NO 7...... DEAD OR ALIVE - YOUTHQUAKE
Another awesome album, with the amazing voice of Pete Burns and with synths galore, it packs a punch. Released in 1985, it was produced by the talented Stock, Aitken and Waterman. This is another album I never get sick of listening to, so many excellent songs like 'Spin me Round (Like a Record)', 'I wanna be a Toy', 'In too Deep', 'Lover come back to Me' and 'Big Daddy of the Rhythm".....My pick of the album would be 'Heart goes Bang', guaranteed to bring any dance floor alive

Another 10/10 album

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NO 8...............SIGUE SIGUE SPUTNIK - FLAUNT IT
They looked and sounded like no other band and in 1986, they smothered our TV screens with Love Missile F1-11, part song, part movie it was a musical orgasm of sound. Founded by band member of Generation X (think Billy Idol), Tony James wanted to form a fantasy band and so Sigue Sigue Sputnik was born. The name taken from a Russian gang meaning 'Burn Burn Satellite' (or rumor has it). So what made this album stand up and everyone take notice?, maybe because the album has its own adds, yes, commercials after every song (genius) and that is was recorded in pure digital ( a DDD recording) which made it sound so much better. Tracks to note are 'Rocket Miss USA', '21st Century Boy' and 'Atari Baby', but it was 'Love Missile F1-11' that stole the show and is my pick of the album.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NO 9..............PSEUDO ECHO - AUTUMNAL PARK
Australian band Pseudo Echo released this amazing album back in 1984. Similar to Koo De Tah, it had the same awesome sound of the electronic drums with catchy synths and magic guitar riffs, this band was a big favorite on the music show 'Countdown' hosted by 'Molly Meldrum'.
Songs on this album included 'A Beat for You', 'See Through', 'Stranger in Me', 'His Eyes', 'Walk Away', 'Fast Cars', and 'Destination Unknown' but my pick of the album would be 'Listening',... a raging beat with boppy synths makes this song a winner, its also a song that my wife reckons its my theme song (I suffer from selective hearing :))

Another 10/10 album
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NO 10....................INXS - THE SWING
This album was huge in Australia, With the song 'Original Sin' splattering the radio back in 1984, my summer was one to remember. Frontman 'Michael Hutchence' was the energy that gave this album a certain something and the sound was amazing. Songs like 'Melting in the Sun', 'I sent a Message', 'Original Sin',  'Dancing on the Jetty' and 'Love Is (What I Say)', But my pick of the album would have to be 'Burn for you', its a song that if I close my eyes, I am taken to a place of pure bliss...Back to Summer 1984.

Another 10/10 album

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CHVRCHES - GUN (Sounds like the 80s) - New Music

Hello and welcome back.....Loving this band at the moment, Scottish electronic band "Chvrches"(no,its not a spelling mistake) has such an amazing fresh sound.

The band is fronted by singer/ synth player 'Lauren Mayberry' with 'Iain Cook' on synths, guitar, bass & backup vocals..... 'Martin Doherty' on synths, samplers and vocals.

The band is due to release a new 12 track album around 23rd Sept 2013 called "The Bones of What You Believe"

The song "Gun" will feature in the game 'FIFA 14'

To me, this song (and band) sound very similar to 80s band "Koo De Tah" (Think - Too young for Promises).... Even my wife who knows nothing about music said 'gee, that sounds like Koo De Tah, you know that 80s band...

Is it me or does Lauren look about 15....People pay good money to look like that :)  Cheers.

CHVRCHES - GUN  (Thanks to ChvrchesVEVO for the video)

Absolutely mindblowing...I love them, wish more bands sounded like this.

GIORGIO MORODER - RACER (New Music)

Hello and welcome back.....The Grandfather of Synth is back with a new single.
Giorgio Moroder has a new track called "Racer", the song was made for a Google chrome game called Racer.
Its a game made for several mobile devices that sync together using Google Chrome and you race against each other on a neon track (reminds me a bit of Tron)

Its an interesting song, made for racing...I like it....(my moneys on the blue car :)) Enjoy

E.G DAILEY - MIND OVER MATTER (Lost Hit)

Hello and welcome back..... Elizabeth Ann Guttman (aka E.G Dailey) is probably better known as the voice of "Buttercup" in the 'Powerpuff Girls'.
Apart from that, she has been in a slather of other movies spanning from 1979 till 2012 (Wow)

What made me stand up and go YEAH... is that Elisabeth also did back up vocals for Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder's solo album (One of the best 80s albums)
And
(It gets better) she was also in the video for "Rod Stewart - Young Turks" as Patti, the runaway teen.....( you thought I was gonna say I was into powerpuff girls, didn't you?)

After all that she sang this Italo house? hit "Mind Over Matter", which was used in the 1987 movie 'Summer School'...Love this song, still sounds fresh and pumping... The sound of the 80s, Right here.

PHIL OAKEY & GIORGIO MORODER - BE MY LOVER NOW (thanks to chetano for the video)
