JEAN BEAUVOIR - feel the heat ( lost hit )

Hello and welcome back... If you have seen the movie "Cobra" ( Sylvester Stallone ) then you will recognize this song. As "cobra" rides away on his Harley you can hear this song leading into the end credits. "Feel the heat" was released in 1986 by American singer "Jean Beauvoir" and was off the album "Drums along the Mohawk". Jean was in the band "The Plasmatics" before going solo.. Brilliant song.

THE BEATMASTERS - anywayawanna

Hello and welcome back.... A tv commercial jingle is what started this band to release one of the best dance albums in the late 80s... Jammin  next to bands like "s-express", "bomb the bass" and "coldcut", "the beatmasters" had a funky style mixed with serious dance undertones. Set free in 1989, "anywayawanna" was a hit in the U.K reaching top 30 on the music charts and includes hits like "who's in the house", "hey dj/i can't dance", "burn it up", "ska train" and my pick off the album "rok da house"( original mix ).. with its thumping beats and grooving piano's, its a song i never get sick of listening to... A 10/10 album.  cheers

WA WA NEE - i could make you love me ( lost hit )

Hello and welcome back... As i write this, freezing my butt off ( -2deg tonight ), i have my headphones on cranking out the sounds of "WA WA Nee" ( strange name for a band ). This was the first album from this band that featured heavily on "countdown" (80s music show in Australia) which is were i first heard of them. Let loose in 1986 this self titled album had 4 singles available and i have chosen my favorite "i could make you love me". Strangely the overseas market was not so good, releasing the song "stimulation" to the American audience to a luke-warm reception... other singles includes "one and one" ( ain't good enough ) and "sugar free" but it's the pumping bass and screaming guitars in "i could make you love me" that takes me back to summer 86.. when it was warmer.. cheers.

KRAFTWERK - the mix ( best of )

Hello and welcome back.... Being this my 100th post ( crowd cheers and claps ), i thought who better to look back at than the grand father of electronic music.. Kraftwerk. This German band was one of the first to pioneer electronic music to the world using analog synthesizers and primitive drum machines. For me personalty this album sounds excellent using a good pair of headphones ( i use Sony MDR-V700 )... The bass on "radioactivity" is enough to rattle my eyeballs... but is an excellent sample of classic synth sound. The album "the mix" is a best of compilation of various remixes of their most popular songs including "the robots", "computerlove", "autobahn", and my pick ... "radioactivity" with its driving bass and robotic voices .... its what classic synth should sound like.. a different and interesting album.. cheers
Track lists are =

1 = the robots

2 = computerlove

3 = pocket calculator

4 = dentaku

5 = autobahn

6 = radioactivity

7 = trans europe express

8 = abzug

9 = metal on metal

10 = homecomputer

11 = music non stop

One thing i did notice ... NO "the model", i was one of their biggest songs.. whats going on ?
Still a good album... DOWNLOAD  album ( this is the European remaster ).. massive thanks to babakazoo.blogspot.com for the link .... enjoy

FREDDIE MERCURY - love kills ( lost hit )

Hello and welcome back... Freddie Mercury and Giorgio Moroder team up to produce a soundtrack to the 1927 film "metropolis".. if that doesn't send chills down your spine, then one would hope it should. I love Freddie Mercury's work both with Queen and this song who with a synth god ( think Electric dreams ) Giorgio Moroder produced this song.. I will admit i have never seen the movie, maybe one day I'll find the time.This song made it to position 10 in the UK charts in 1984 and in my view is a legend of a song as is the person singing it... cheers.

THOMPSON TWINS - into the gap

Hello and welcome back... One of the biggest albums from the 80s would have been from this band. Thompson twins was named after the detectives in the comic series "tintin" ( one of my favorite comics when i was a young lad )..and released this album in 1984 where it went no1 in the U.K.
For me , i found it hard to get into this album, it was different.. with more percussion than synth, but with heavy playing on "mtv" & "countdown" it grew on me. Band members Tom Bailey ( no relation to me.." i wish " ) and Alannah Currie with Joe Leeway set the scene to this album with songs like "you take me up", "sister of mercy", "hold me now" and "doctor doctor" which is my pick of the album with its classic beeps of synth and lyrics you can sing to, its a classic 80s feel good song. Another thing feel good.. Tom and Alannah got married and are living in New Zealand.. Another happy ending.
Track listings are =

1 = doctor doctor

2 = you take me up

3 = day after day

4 = sister of mercy

5 = no peace for the wicked

6 = the gap

7 = hold me now

8 = storm on the sea

9 = who can stop the rain

An 80s classic ... CLICK HERE to Download "Dr Doctor" and more from my Mixtape series .. cheers
