INXS - the swing

Hello and welcome back...Probability one of the biggest albums to come from the 80s... Everyone had a copy of this album in their collection, Either cassette or vinyl ( cassette came out on chromium dioxide = crisp sound ).. Let loose in 1984 "the swing" shot to no1 in Australia and remained in the charts for the next 2 years, meanwhile overseas it remained unknown... For me , this is one of my most loved albums of the 80s, with songs like "original sin" , "i send a message", "dancing on the jetty", "burn for you" and "love is what i say" which is my pick of the album.. Love the dreamy synths and that voice of Michael Hutchence. If i close my eyes, i am taken back to 34c days, swimming in my neighbours pool with the radio on 2SM and "love is what i say" blasting out of the speakers.. Pure bliss. From start to finish this is a 10/10 album. Enjoy.

FICTION FACTORY - feels like heaven ( lost hit )

Hello and welcome back... Fiction factory blended moody lyrics and dreamy synths in this beautiful song.. A Scottish band from Perth created this hit in 1984 ( reached no6 in the U.K ) and was from the album "throw the warped wheel out". For me personally, i cant get enough of this song and even today it still sounds fresh and meaningful. They don't make music like this anymore... Enjoy.

Hello and welcome back... Combine silky smooth lyrics and funky synths and you have "fox the fox". A one hit wonder from the dutch band saw the song "precious little diamond" go to no5 in the U.S charts in 1984. Just can't get enough of this song.. love it.

DEPECHE MODE - violator

Hello and welcome back... "Depeche mode" gets serious, basically that's what this album means.. gone are the boppy synths and replaced with more moody, darker synths. I used to hear "enjoy the silence" alot on triple j and the song "personal Jesus" got heaps of airplay on the tv show "Beverly hills 90210".
The "Violater" album was let loose in 1989 and scored the hits "world in my eyes", "policy of truth", "personal Jesus" and "enjoy the silence" which is my pick of the album.. love the punchy beats and edgy synths. This album went on to sell 15 million copies and in my view, one of "Depeche Mode's" best.

Hello and welcome back... Came across this track while looking for another song, love the deep bass synths, sounds excellent... think it's done in German?.
The main person in this band is "Patrick Demeyer" who is also know for his work on 90s bands "Technotronic", "T99" and "2 Unlimited" he also seems to have a fetish for statues and mannequins as seen in this video (kinky)
On a personal note , I've been fighting a  nasty cold/flu and have slowed down my posts.. i hate winter and with all the injury's i have.. it's a living hell.. good thing i have great music to listen to.. cheers

UTAH SAINTS - utah saints

Hello and welcome back... Drifting slightly outside the 80s, I thought i would share with you one of my most loved albums.The "Utah Saints" were famous for using snippets of other people's songs in their music ( sampling ) and were very good at it. I remember my clubbing days ( kinda hazy ) and hearing this song being pumped out across the dance floor... that song was "something good" with the backing track being "Kate Bush - cloudbusting". In 2008 this song was re-released with one of the best video clips I've seen ( ft the running man ).. Other songs on this album are "what can you do for me", "i want you", "something good" and "new gold dream" which is my pick of the album with the backing track from "simple minds"... being a huge "simple minds" fan, couldn't go past it... deserves to be played loud..

TOM TOM CLUB - wordy rappinghood ( lost hit )

Hello and welcome back... Taking their name from a dance-hall in the Bahamas, the "Tom Tom Club" were a compilation of 2 members of the "talking heads" and other various musician and sound engineers. For me personally its a great song to listen to with headphones as the funky synths seem to dance around your head. Wordy Rappinghood came of the album with the same name ( Tom Tom Club ) and also had the hit "Genius of love" .... the rest of the album doesn't seem to make sense to me, but other people may like it.. Love the album artwork, something that is lacking with today's artists.. Enjoy
