STEFAN DENNIS - DONT IT MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD (Lost Hit)

Hello and welcome back..... I know him as Paul Robinson from the TV soap 'Neighbours'.

To everyone else he is 'Stefan Dennis', actor and....Singer.
He had a small hit with this little ditty called 'Don't it make you feel good' which made it to No 16 in the U.K music charts back in 1989.

Is it me or does Stefan look a little like 'The Hoff' (David Hasselhoff).... Sure looks cool in the leather, Dude...

Judging from the comment to this video, punters either love the song or hated it... You be the judge.

Me = I Love it :)

CARLY SIMON - WHY (Lost Hit)

Hello and welcome back..... Its funny where you hear certain songs.
This song I heard today at my local Target Store at Winmalee, NSW over the loud speakers...
I recognised the tune but it belonged to another song.... A late 80s track by the band "A Tribe Called Quest - Bonita Applebum" (Why Remix)....
I didn't know about the Carly Simon song but I now know where the 'Why Remix' came from...

Now to the feature song.....
This 1982 song from U.S singer / songwriter 'Carly Simon - Why' was from the movie soundtrack 'Soup for One' and made it to top 10 in the U.K music charts....

I love the opening lyrics -  La di-da, di-da, La di-da, di-da... even I can sing that, so good... also how much fun does the video look, everyone was getting into it, even the waiter.    Enjoy

THE DREAM SEQUENCE - LETS GO (Sounds like the 80s)

Hello and welcome back..... Loving the sounds of this at the moment, 'The Dream Sequence' with
their new track 'Lets Go'
Made from Vintage Synths including Oberheim (bass and upper Arps), Jupiter 8V (Strings) and Linn Drum (80s sound setting). A vintage Yamaha Tape Deck was also used in the recording process.

There are 2 versions of 'Lets Go' .... The first is synth driven, robotic voices and sexy guitar sounds in the middle. The video is from the late 80s and features the video game from an Atari Lynx called 'Xenophobe'

The second version is, a dance number (Heavy dance beat and weird alien sounds in the middle), the video is something else with footage taken from the late 80s U.K dance show 'The Hitman and Her', (hosted by Pete Waterman from SAW*) and I think you will agree, the young lady in blue has some serious dance moves... check it out :)

BONEY M - GOING BACK WEST (Lost Hit)

Hello and welcome back.... From 1982, comes this awesome song.

German band "Boney M" made it to No 41 in the music charts in Germany with 'Going back West'
This was the first single with new member 'Reggie Tsiboe' on vocals.
Going back West was originally sung by a 1970s Jamaican artist  called 'Jimmy Cliff'

For me, I heard this song recently on online radio station 'Radio Polskie - 80s & Italo Disco', instantly loved the sound of this song, especially the chorus part, such a happy song.... Brilliant

INXS - NEVER TEAR US APART (Lost Hit)

Hello and welcome back..... From the 1987 album 'Kick', this song helped launch 'INXS' into world wide fame, even known that it was their 6th studio album.

'Never Tear us Apart' was released a year later in 1988 and was a instant hit, sexy vocals from Michael Hutchence, Sweeping synths and a music video filmed in Prague... Stunning

This song made it to No 24 in the U.K music charts, No14 in Australia and No7 In the U.S...
But
It was to have a sad meaning to INXS fans, After the death of Michael Hutchence in 1997, 'Never tear us Apart' was played as the coffin was lead out of St Andrews Cathedral in Sydney, NSW....

To some INXS fans, 'Never Tear us Apart' is now known as "Hutchence's anthem"....
A Chilling reminder to how fragile we really are and how quickly it can be taken away in a flash...

APPS THAT SOUND LIKE THE 80S - Part 1

Hello and welcome back..... Ever wanted to recreate the sounds used by many of the 80s synth bands?

Now you can....

From the Mini-Moog, Polysix and Oberheim synths, each one is mastered to perfection, match this to a Midi compatible controler and you have the next best thing to what was available back in the 80s.

When you think about the amount of power available in a Ipad or Tablet to what was available back then, the technology today is way more powerful, not only that, but most of these apps are written by the makers themselves including Korg, Roland and Arturia.... So why would you not want to make some sweet 80s sounds?

1 = ARTURIA iSEM

Like everything Arturia make, this App is top notch.
Modeled on the 1974 Oberheim SEM synth, this beast of an App is possibly my favorite
The best thing I like about this App is that using the Arpeggiator (On the far left side), you can turn any sound into a decent Arp.  It even has a built in owners manual...Sweet
Bands that used this synth include -  'Jan Hammer', 'Supertramp', '808 State', 'Vince Clarke' and 'Depeche Mode'.

Main Features

  • iPad app recreating the classic Obeheim SEM synthesizer.
  • Hundreds of sounds created by some of the best sound designers around.
  • Audiobus support (to interact with other apps).
  • Core MIDI (to control your synth from a Hardware MIDI keyboard).
  • Apple’s Inter-app audio (to work in conjunction with GarageBand and other audio apps).
  • Preset transfer and sharing via email & iTunes file transfer.
  • Preset compatibility with the Arturia SEM V Mac/PC software.
  • WIST clock sync support (to synchronize two iPads).
  • Real analog sound based on our TAE® analog modeling.
  • Voice Programmer allows for recreating the rare and classic Oberheim Eight Voice.

VODSEL - THE SUMMER OUTSIDERS (Sounds Like The 80s)

Hello and welcome back..... Fans of more darker synth music will like this, reminds me of the band 'Clan of Xymox', sounds really good.....

While this band has heaps of other tracks, 'The Summer Outsiders' by UK band 'Vodsel' caught my attention, not only a brilliant crafted music video but also a dark edgy sounding song.... I like it...
