LAURA BRANIGAN - SPANISH EDDIE

Hello and welcome back.....From the Album "Hold Me", Spanish Eddie was the first single to grace our ears back in 1985. This was Laura Branigan's sixth top 40 hit in the music charts.
So the question remains... who was Spanish Eddie?
A quote from Songfacts.com say =   This song was rumored to be about Spanish Eddie Vincente of the YSA's Bronx gang crisis squad and his failed attempt to broker a city-wide gang truce beginning with the Hoe Avenue peace meeting in 1971.

Sadly Laura is no longer with us, She died in her sleep in August 2004 of a previously undiagnosed cerebral aneurysm. Her ashes were scattered over Long Island South.... She was only 47 years old.

GRACE JONES

Hello and welcome back.......Born in Jamaica, Grace Jones ( Grace Mendoza) started as a Model before becoming an Actress and Singer.

Her talent and striking looks got her a record deal and various acting roles including a James Bond movie "A View to a Kill".

For me personally, I love Grace Jones.... Her look is awesome with the flat top ( I had a flat top once) making her stand out from other singers at that time.
Grace often mixes fashion with modeling....Yes folks, she has style
Her music is often suited for Clubs with luscious beats and that voice, what a Voice..... Smooth and focused. Outstanding.

Grace Jones has released about 10 albums and a slather of singles.
Some of my favorite singles from Grace are "Private life", "I've Seen that Face Before", "Pull up to the Bumper", "Slave to the Rhythm" &... "Walking in the Rain" which is my stand out song with sultry synths and a singing style that leaves you with chills.

Grace Jones has once quoted = Now when I enter a carriage, it almost empties. But there's always one brave enough to stay.

What an amazing artist.

MURRAY HEAD - ONE NIGHT IN BANGKOK (lost hit)

Hello and welcome back.... From the 1985 musical "Chess" comes this one and only hit from "Murray Head".
The music from 'Chess" was composed by former ABBA singers Benny & Bjorn.
Thailand's Mass Communications Organization banned One Night in Bangkok, saying its lyrics "cause misunderstanding about Thai society and show disrespect towards Buddhism.

Love listening to this song on a good set of headphones, sounds magic.

DAVID BOWIE - NEW ALBUM

Hello and welcome back.... David Bowie fans rejoice, found this in my local news.....(Thanks to News.com.au)

David Bowie returns with first album in decade, The Next Day, to be released in March

VETERAN music star David Bowie has broken years of silence and speculation to release his first single and album in a decade.
The glam-rock singer, who shot to fame in the late `60s with Space Oddity, has released the recording Where Are We Now? on iTunes to coincide with his 66th birthday.
A follow-up album called The Next Day is set to be released in March.
Bowie has not performed live since 2006 and has rarely been seen in public since then, leading to rumours of possible ill-health which were denied by his spokesman.
Once known for his flamboyance, the star turned down the opportunity to appear at the Olympics Opening Ceremony last year despite a personal plea by director Danny Boyle.
A spokesman said: "Throwing shadows and avoiding the industry treadmill is very David Bowie despite his extraordinary track record that includes album sales in excess of 130 million not to mention his massive contributions in the area of art, fashion, style, sexual exploration and social commentary.
"It goes without saying that he has sold out stadiums and broken ticket records throughout the world during this most influential of careers."
He added that Bowie was the sort of artist who "writes and performs what he wants when he wants".

Produced by long term collaborator Tony Visconti, Where Are We Now? was written by Bowie and was recorded in New York, where he was last reported to be living with his wife and daughter.
The single is accompanied by a video directed by Tony Oursler which harks back to Bowie's time in Berlin, with his face projected onto the body of a puppet.
