Hello and welcome back - In the late 80s i was lucky enough to go to World Expo 88 in Brisbane Australia... I had just turned 18 so i thought i would go to a nightclub and remember walking in to a packed room with the pet shop boys playing "always on my mind". The sound was amazing...
Introspective was let loose in 1988 and is mainly various song that had a dance feel to them.. There is only 6 songs but sometimes as in this case its enough to not get bored as each song goes for 6 - 8 minutes. Dead or alive - youthquake

Hello and greetings... Another of my favorite band of the 80s was "Dead or Alive". Before I got my car license I used to walk everywhere and I had brought a aiwa Walkman ( almost sounded as good as a cd ) and one of my favorite tapes was this album... The quality of the recording is excellent with good bass and crisp highs ( i think it was recorded on chrome ).
Formed by stock aitken waterman, this was there first group to hit number 1 after it was released in march 1985.. "spin me round" (like a record )  was a huge song along with my "my heart goes bang"  and they have a huge following in japan.. my favorite song would have to be "big daddy of the rhythm" with its electric synths and smooth vocals it one of the best ( sounding )albums of the 80s.

BOXCAR - VERTIGO

Hello and welcome back... Back in the late 80s one of my favorite pastimes was to go visit various record stores around Sydney.
One of those suburbs was Strathfield, NSW which was also on my way home from work, it had a great record store in the plaza.

This is where I came across this album.

Basically if you like "New Order" you would like this band. Its a great album to dance to.

Let loose in 1989 it had the singles "Insect", "Gas Stop" and "Lelore". My favorite track would be "Freemason" with its pulsating beats and happy synth melody's ... makes me want to dance but I don't think my hip will let me.. lesson for everyone = " don't get old " haha...   A10/10 Album

Pseudo Echo - autumnal park

Welcome back.... another of my favourite bands of the 80s is Pseudo echo, there's something about certain bands that give them the edge and this is one of them.. heavy use of electric drums and crafty synths make this album stand out... kinda raw sound  before they went commercial and Bryan Canhams smooth vocals are a standout. I have been lucky enough to not only see this amazing band live but to meet bryan and dribble ( kinda like that scene in Wayne's world when they meet Alice cooper.. we're not worthy , i'm not worthy, i suck.. haha )
Autumnal park was set free in 1984 and contained  hits like "listening", "a beat for you" and "destination unknown".My favourite track has to be "stranger in me", i love the way the electric drums sound like a whip cracking and lyrics you can sing to.Track list is =

1 = autumnal park

2 = beat for you

Tears for fears - The hurting

Hello and welcome back...O.K brace yourself , time to get emotional, If there was ever a album with a meaning it would have to be this one.
To me this album is a mix of sadness and grief but kinda has a light at the end of the tunnel thru the music.
Not every child had a great upbringing and even now that the pain has gone, the memories are still there like it was yesterday..You may forgive but you don't forget, and it helps when artists like "Tears for Fears" express this in their music as a kind of outlet and to know that myself and others were not alone.
"The hurting" was released in march 1983 by band "Tears for fears" who got there name by a way of a practice called Primal Therapy, developed by the American psychologist Arthur Janov
This album shot to number1 in the U.K and had the songs "Mad World", "Change" and my favorite "Pale Shelter" which is kinda like a love song, referring to ones parents rather than about a girl.. I love the twangy guitars and soothing synths.. Its like a breath of fresh air.
Track listings are =
1 = THE HURTING

2 = MAD WORLD

3 = PALE SHELTER

4 = IDEAS AS OPIATES

5 = MEMORIES FADE

DEPECHE MODE - speak & spell

Hello again , welcome back.... I was running thru my parents house aged 11 playing tip with my brother when in the background my dad had the stereo system on Triple M ( FM in stereo... wow ), when I stopped to hear this great synth sound and the lyrics of "I just cant get enough" singing over and over... meanwhile my brother had caught up to me yelling "tiiiip" and slaming me into a wall which then made a picture fall off and hit me on the head. 5 stiches later and sitting in the doctors surgery I still had that song in my head along with a huge headache.
Speak & spell was let loose on the general population in 1981 and was the only album to have "Vince Clarke" as a member of the band before heading off and starting "Yazoo" and then "Erasure".
It has often been said that the album was named after a kids toy popular at that time ( rumor only ).
My favorite song would have to be "Photographic" with it pulsating synths and driving beat, Its recommended to be played loud.
Album tracks are =
1 = NEW LIFE

2 = I SOMETIMES WISH I WAS DEAD

3 = PUPPETS

4 = BOYS SAY GO

5 = NO DISCO

6 = WHATS YOUR NAME

KOO DE TAH - koo de tah

Hello and welcome back... If there was a perfect Electronic album from the 80s it would have to be this one.I borrowed this album from my local library at the time.
I put the cassette into my trusty AIWA walkman and walked the one hour home and instantly fell in love with its sound.
Even to this day it still sounds so fresh and alive with its moody synths and vibrant electric drums.
This album was released in 1986 and the lead song "Too young for Promises" went to number 6 in the Australian music charts and was soon followed by the song "Body talk".
For me this album rates 10/10 as the perfect album for the 80s. Tracks listings are =

1 =  TOO YOUNG FOR PROMISES (

2 = THINK OF ME

THE HUMAN LEAGUE - the best of

Hello and welcome back. I often don't like compilation albums, maybe they lack character that a original album has got ( just my way of thinking, please don't yell at me ) but this one changed my mind.
The Human League is fronted by "Phil Oakey" who in the synthesizer world is a legend, take "Electric Dreams" for example, Oakey states that it is ironic that a track that took literally ten minutes to record would become a worldwide hit, while some of his Human League material that took over a year to record didn't get anywhere.
The best of album I have chosen was released in 1997 and included the track "seconds", I just love its smooth flowing synths and I also like "the Lebanon" with its punchy bass lines.
Sadly this compilation has forgotten "Electric Dreams" and "Don't you want me", two of their biggest songs, so the record producer that put this album together needs to be slapped...Hard.
Track list is =

1 = LOVE ACTION

2 = MIRROR MAN

3 = OPEN YOUR HEART

4 = THE SOUND OF THE CROWD

5 = DON'T YOU KNOW I WANT YOU

6 = LIFE ON YOUR OWN

7 = SECONDS

8 = HARD TIMES

9 = DO OR DIE

10 = HEART LIKE A WHEEL

11 = THE LEBANON

12 = GET IT RIGHT THIS TIME

I stopped dead in my tracks to savour the sweeping syths and catchy guitar riffs only to end suddenly, as a ball throw quite hard, hit me in the back of the head... OUCH.., But I was hooked, and the album "Ransom Note" has been a big favorite of mine since.

my first blog - Icehouse

Greetings to my first blog, my name is Michael and I live in Springwood in the blue mountains west of Sydney... I was lucky enough to have experienced the 80s as this was my teen years
I love 80s music, mainly 80s electronic music.
The many sounds that come out of a synthesizer is amazing... Icehouse has to be one of my favorite bands.
The band Icehouse started their career as "Flowers" in 1978 with Iva Davies ( Ivor Davies ) as lead vocals. First album was Icehouse and was let of the leash in 1980.
Icehouse was one of the first bands to use the "Fairlight" synthesizer which you can hear in most of their songs. A classic example of 80s electronic music.

Track listing is =

1 = icehouse

2 = we can get together

3 = fatman

4 = sister

5 = walls

6 = can't help myself
